Fourteen girls aged 15 to 17 are currently involved in the five-to-seven day trial programme which began on Monday. One student was given a sentence of one year and 10 months.

During the programme, young offenders also take part in a gruelling course involving military training, after which schools assess whether they are fit to return to their studies or they should be expelled.

Well their country their laws, and yes bullying deserves such laws.Wonder when world's biggest bully USA is sentenced.

Karen Nester Hall
They'll have plenty of time to think about what they did while they're doing hard labor. I think it's a great lesson!

Sarah Hall
I have been bullied and it never really leaves your mind. I have seen them since and it still makes me slightly nervous. So they do deserve to be punished

Burhan Mir
I'm 20 and I believe it's good, as long as that labour doesn't harm them physically.
Note: I'm a farmerboy and I also indulge in hard labour and it's all fun.
Indulging in hard labour makes me tired but doesn't make my health degrade.

I believe this chinese way is one of the best ways to create disciplined & responsible generation. Western nations has got to learn from countries like China.

Nagore Acedo
At least they are trying to do something about it. In Europe we wait until bullied kids kill themselves to ask some questions and that's it. Maybe this will make them think twice about bullying other kids.

Danika Hyssong
Hard labor seems excessive. I'd suggest community service. Spending what was their free time picking up trash, working in soup kitchen or similar might teach them some humility and compassion. But first look for abuse in their home life. Bullies are often bullied themselves. It maybe the parents that need the hard labor.

Amanda Williams
We are too soft in this country, mainly because of that stupid lawsuit thing that we have copied from America. Well done China.

Norhassan Ali Usman
Bullies had destroyed a lot of life in the West. There are people who actually committed suicide because they are bullied a lot. Thank you China for making this a law but I hope you to stop bullying your neighboring countries in regards to several territorial disputes.

Oscar Forell
Now the power and ever-increasing fear of China lies only in the cowardice of the West. It is not for nothing that they lead the entire world industry of anything.
Today, the West, though bankrupt, imports from China everything that it had itself manufactured. So, abuses like this will only grow.

China will lead the next generation so for that they need to confirm the younsters are physically mentally ready for the appropriate task, good this way the teens are more descipline and responsible, I have seen many teenagers from rich family smoking, bulling peoples loitering on the streets misbehaving to elders no patience no manner no moral at all how will they lead the world.

Florian Bürbaumer

Wow, it actually amazes me seeing that people agree with something that comes from China. Most articles about china are negative and so is the reaction of people. Even though BBC is asking questions like "do they deserve it?" which should create some negativity, people are still supporting this. BBC didn't expect that I guess

Great move by Chinese officials. Bullying has have no place in society.

Its China , Leave China to run their own country . They Dont need the fake news Yes you bbc to teach how to look out for their citizens !
